Paragraph 1. Keegan sits at a desk with his classmates around him. One classmate to his left, one to his right, and one right in front of him. He looks down at his textbook and reads chapter one. After reading the chapter his mind races from taking in all the information. He decides to write down some key notes from the reading to come back to. After he writes down his notes, he reads the other assigned chapters. He does the same things in both of those chapters. After he is done he goes back to read about the hints they were given before the reading. Once done he looks around the illuminated room and listens to what others have to say about the reading.
Paragraph 2. One way that I might improve how I approach these assignments is by writing down questions before the reading and answering them as I go along. This could help me retain some of the information given in the readings. Another thing I could do is write down keynotes as I read instead of at the end. This could help so I don't forget what I want to write before the end of the chapter.
Paragraph 3. Percy realized that reading is like watching film for sports. It’s not just about what they are doing, but how and why they are doing it. I think that being the slowest reader has to do with understanding why you are reading. The slowest reader would be the person who can answer what but not why.
Paragraph 4. Keegan sits down to write his essay. He has his notebook on the desk and a pencil in his right hand. It’s silent in the room with the only sound being his thoughts. He sits there thinking until the perfect thought comes into his head. He starts writing and keeps writing until he is done with the essay.
One thing that I could improve is taking a break during writing. Taking a break could help me come up with better ideas for writing my essay.
One thing that I found important was not writing for external rewards. Most of the time that I write, I’m writing to get a good grade and not for fun. Another thing that I found important was being “source heavy”. It’s simpler to re-write something than come up with a whole new sentence.
